Bushfire Aid Jam

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

Unless you have been living under a rock you would have heard about the terrible bushfires that have been burning in Victoria the last few weeks. This is the worst natural disaster Australia has seen, hundreds of houses have been destroyed, thousands homeless and many many people have lost their lives. There is a jam on in a few weeks at Beenleigh to raise some money for the people affected by the fires. If you are in the area or feel like a road trip hit up Beenleigh park on the 28th of Feb, donate a few $$ to a good cause and have a ride!

Bob & his Black Pearl 18″

Friday, February 13th, 2009

At Christmas time we had the chance to customise our friend Bob’s new 18″ Black Pearl with a host of new parts straight out of the box. We added Colony Unlucky 13 bars, Colony Konka Bar Ends, Colony Slim Seat, Official Stem, Fit DL post, 9 Dragons 8mm Pinyin sprocket & some Odyssey parts. We think  the bike looked sweet & would give Bob a great ride that was just for him,  It seems to have worked a treat because I was emailed a link this morning straight to the Mirra Co website & sure enough Bob was on the front page! Check more here mirrabikeco.com Sweet news.

Futurama

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

It’s the beginning of another year and everyone is keen as pie to see what new products/colours/big bars are coming into the country. That got me thinking about what we might see in the years to come, Then i got thinking again ( I’ve had too much time on my hands today) about the future of BMX in general and where it’s heading. If I tried to write down what was in my head chances are it would come out an incoherent mess and in the end I’d just end up swearing at the computer and leaving it. Lucky for everyone I seen this blog post from Taj Mihelich that sums it up perfectly… uncertain times people, uncertain times.

Random BMX games photos

Sunday, February 1st, 2009

I figured i’d post up a few totaly random photos from the 5 or 6 days we were away.

The trip started out great, nice and sunny, everyone was happy and Todd kicked a giant sheep in the nuts, he was pretty dang stoked about that. We hit the road again and stopped at Gundagai for some ice cream, stretch our legs and fill the lux up with petrol. Once we were back on the road for a few hours we stopped at a random little town called Holebrook, its hours and hours from the coast but there was a giant submarine there aswell as a bunch of other random navy stuff. Its scary to think how well these two would fit into the navy….

Our next stop was an un-scheduled stop on the side of the freeway because i couldn’t see the road, and that’s scary at 110km/h. Despite the storm clearing up after 15 or 20 mins the big black cloud decided to hang over my head the rest of the trip.

The BMX Games kicked off a day or two later and plenty of people threw dowm some stunts…

some people didnt have such luck…

I came out $200 in front playing Blackjack at the casino and Mitchell became a high roller for a few hours shouting everyone drinks untill he lost everything in his wallet playing roulette (about $600)

I went for a roll around the streets with Cooper and a few other guys, that was pretty fun to see a bit of the city like that. We rode a few parks aswell, they were all pretty shit except for Rampfest. That place is a credit to the guys who built and run it. Everyone should go and ride there, its an absolute pleasure.

I think that will do me for now.
